PHARAOH COSMETICS
For this project, I decided to move forward with a "masculine" natural makeup kit. The current makeup marketplace strongly targets a “feminine” audience in their branding and advertisement. I created a logo and branding which was applied to physical packaging and products, as well as an alternative application and point of purchase (website).

THE PROJECT BRIEF
Research a specific demographic in order to identify a problem you can solve by creating a brand, products, accompanying packaging and more. For this project, I decided to move forward with a "masculine" natural makeup kit. The current makeup marketplace strongly targets a “feminine” audience in their branding and advertisement. I created a logo and branding which was applied to physical packaging and products, as well as an alternative application and point of purchase (website).
THE TARGET AUDIENCE
My target audience will focus on men who are new or interested in getting into makeup. It will focus on more natural makeup looks to be less intimidating and open to exploration of products. While my product branding will focus on a ‘masculine’ demographic, I will allow room in my branding to be inclusive for anyone who is interested in natural looks or starting out with makeup.
THE LOGO
I decided to focus on the ancient Egyptians for inspiration - known for their cat-eyed look as well as both genders wearing makeup. Egyptians believed makeup gave protection and healing powers by their gods. I wanted to reflect the beliefs of the ancient Egyptians with my brand while staying beautiful and approachable to any user.
THE ALTERNATIVE APPLICATION
Since my target audience focuses on users who are new to makeup, I created an app to help guide users in their journey to learn about makeup. The app explains about each product found in their personalized kit and gives important tips and video tutorials to show to use them. The goal is to make makeup approachable and comfortable for users.
THE PACKAGING
For creating the packaging and products, I bought pre-existing makeup. I then proceed to prime the box and products with gesso, followed by spray paint, and lastly screen print the details of the logo and hieroglyphs. Inside the natural makeup kit, I also included a brochure to further press the learning approach about makeup to my target audience.
THE POINT OF PURCHASE
To extend our brand even further, we had to create the purchase area of our product. Since my makeup kit targets new users and has a customizable feature, the best solution was to create a website for this brand. I created a home page where one could buy the kit followed by a quiz to narrow down the products based on skin and experience. Lastly, users could then select products in a this or that format and review their kit at the end.
